Style File: Overseas Inspiration – Africa

The Style File by Leah Wong

Africa was another countries designers drew inspiration from for Resort 2010 collections. Safari-chic khaki pieces, as well as flashy animal prints work well for women navigating the urban jungle, while printed head-scarves and gladiator sandals are perfect for the modern warrior goddess. While runway looks are meant for warmer months, fashion bloggers are incorporating African inspired trends into their winter looks.

Style File: Overseas Inspiration – Asia

The Style File by Leah Wong

Designers drew inspiration from around the world for their Resort 2010 collections. The first stop on our fashion map of the world is Asia, with obi-style belts and kimono sleeves featured on the runway. With Chinese New Years starting this Sunday, it is the perfect time to wear your Asian-inspired pieces. Though the fabrics used in these collections were made for spring, the concept of waist-emphasis is in season all year long.

Soft Elegance

The Style File by Leah Wong

This season, designers favoured the use of textured fabrics in their collections. Velvet, a rich, soft fabric is one way to add texture to your wardrobe. This luxurious fabric adds instant elegance for any occasion; a velvet blazer is both a chic cover-up or provides presence in the office, while wearing a simple velvet dress is both a warm and glamorous way to attend a Christmas party.
